The Evolution of The Gold Thief Highbanker
The Beginning
Our family has several years of placer mining behind them, about 75 years altogether. We have mined gold in Quesnel, Barkerville, and on both the Pend Oreille & Salmo Rivers. We have trekked through most of Northern BC, as well as adventured to the Mighty Fraser, the Columbia, and the Yukon. Each of these areas has its’ own true beauty, as well as true tales of gold mining.
Many generations can tell you about seeking their fortune in the hunt for gold. Our family has been part of that fortunate journey as well. These adventures taught me perseverance, offered up several challenges, and gave me the greatest memories with friends, family, and gold. The other great part of our mining history, and our hunt for gold, was building machines.

We have trekked through most of Northern BC, as well as adventured to the Mighty Fraser, the Columbia, and the Yukon. Many generations can tell you about seeking their fortune in the hunt for gold. Our family has been part of that fortunate journey as well. These adventures taught me perseverance, offered up several challenges, and gave me the greatest memories with friends, family, and gold. The other great part of our mining history, and our hunt for gold, was building machines.
We built many variations of wash plants, sluice boxes and highbankers. We tested, rebuilt, cursed a few times, then did it all over again, and again. From early on I realized that micron gold, also known as, fine gold and flour gold, was extremely lucrative.
I also knew it was easier to mine than coarse gold. Keeping all this in mind, I was driven to figure out how to catch the fine gold. Designing the ultimate highbanker became my passion, and a mission I was determined to complete!
Now, several years later, here we are!
Our new highbanker has achieved superior results recovering fine micron gold and flakes up to 1/8 of an inch in size (based on current screen size). This machine carries a duo patented technology and is aptly named, “The Gold Thief.”
